Inspirational Nuggets
from a Minister's pen
Many Christians have a unique view of what the cross means to them personally, and we should because this Christian journey is a personal walk in Christ Jesus; however, our view has to align with the biblical cross. We tend to glorify the cross and make the cross to be some beautiful thing in the form of redemption, but let me remind us all that the cross was not an element of beauty, but that of death.
The cross was a device used for execution in the worst way---it was a form of torture and execution, yet our Lord died upon a cross. According to Mathew 16:24, the cross represents self-denial and doing the will of God only. According to Luke 22:42, Jesus prayed for the will of the Father to be done and not his own. When we understand the cross does not represent self-amplification, but rather submission to the Father who judges in authority, we become aligned with the biblical cross' representation.
