Luke 6:48
"He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock..." ~KJV There are two types of listeners in this world. The first listener, will hear and take intentional action to understand and implement, or activate what they hear and understand. The second listener, will hear the same message as the first listener; however, they will not be as intentional to do all they hear and understand. In fact, Luke 6:49 states, “he who heard and did nothing,” which is how Jesus describes the second listener. The word of God is heard throughout the land, but unfortunately, not everyone that hears God’s word will allow for His word to take root in their heart. The word of God is not taught for listeners to only hear it; instead, we must hear and also act on God's word. This is extremely necessary because we live in a world where culture and desires are enmities with God’s teachings. To that, this world also has its distributed share of pains, trials and tribulations, and no one is exempt from them. Our Lord had to endure many trials and many tribulations from people who were supposed to be godly, and those that were ungodly alike. Saying we are a “Christian” does not eliminate difficulties from our life. In like manner, if a person does not claim to be a Christian, that does not excuse them from similar difficulties in life. Everyone with breath in their lungs will experience their challenges in life, but what matters is the ability to endure those difficulties. Our endurance will be measured by the strength of our foundation. Is your faith rooted on the Rock, Jesus Christ? Jesus describes the first listener as one “who digged deep, and laid the foundation on the rock.” When you hear, read, and study God’s word, you are building your faith upon the truth of God’s word. During the building through prayer, fasting, and studying God’s word, you come to believe Him, like Abraham believed God. Then when the trials come, you have your faith in God to stand upon, no matter how violently the winds blow, nor how intense the pain may feel, your trust is in God and His word. Unlike the second listener, you will stand firm in your faith, while he/she experiences great ruin in life. Let us continue to build our house of faith on The Firm Foundation, Jesus Christ. Regardless of how violent the waves of life may be, come what may let us continue to trust in the solid Rock, our High Tower, Jesus Christ! God Bless You, Minister R.O.H.
