John 19:30 “When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, ‘It is finished’…” (ESV)
Our Lord, Jesus Christ, finished a complete work on the cross that God the Father prepared for Him. The salvation of God does not depend on human logic or rationale, but the salvation of God only comes through the cross of Jesus Christ. When Jesus was hanging on the cross, He bore the entire weight of God’s wrath, which is why Jesus felt abandoned on the cross (Matthew 27:46). Sin not only brings punishment but also separation from God. Because of the obedience of Jesus on the cross, we don’t have to endure such pain. The good news today is that we do not have to bear God’s punishment nor have separation from His presence because of the finished work of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is our Mediator between us and the Father (Hebrews 7:25; Romans 8:34), forever interceding on our behalf. It’s Jesus our Lord that stands in the gap for us every day, and for that, we should give Him glory through our obedience and our repentance, daily. The apostle Paul’s words from Romans 8:1 should be encouraging today during these dark times. If you and I remain in Christ Jesus our Lord, we are not condemned to God’s wrath. We are saved and justified by receiving and accepting the perfect, finished work of Jesus Christ. We are made whole through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Hebrews 10:14-17 (ESV) 14 For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified. 15 And the Holy Spirit also bears witness to us; for after saying, 16 “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws on their hearts, and write them on their minds,” 17 then he adds, “I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.” Our God has completed a finished work! Amen! God Bless You, Minister R.O.H.
