"for it is he [God] who gives you the ability to produce wealth" ~Deuteronomy 8:18 (KJV)
When it comes to the topic of money some people cringe, roll their eyes, or simply shake it off and keep moving; it's almost as if the reaction is an involuntary response... it just happens. In some relationships, the mere mention of money and finances bring about arguments and frustrations. While this is an understandably sensitive topic; it is one that at some point, must be addressed. Why? Well, we are all affected by money (or the lack there of) because regardless to who you are, Christian or not, we all use money. While we have been given the ability by God to produce wealth, we don't all know how to manage, or be good stewards, over that wealth. It seems like an easy thing to do, but the truth is that not everyone has been taught how to; either because their parents or caretakers didn't fully know how to themselves, or because the knowledge was just simply not passed on (in other words, the fish was given to the individual, as oppose to the individual being taught how to fish for it themselves..."if you give a man a fish, he eats for a day, if you teach a man how to fish, he eats for a lifetime"~unknown author). If you are amongst the surprisingly many individuals who do not know how to manage---or are not confident in managing--- finances, don't be discouraged because all is not lost and there is hope.
Now we know that there are so many ideas and tons of advice on how one should budget, save, and/or invest their money. For instance, if you were to conduct a web search on: finances, budgets, and/or financial responsibility, the results would be downright overwhelming, confusing and frustrating. This is especially true when you try and cypher through whose theory is best, right, and/or most realistic. So, let us assure you that Where God Has Me is not aiming to add to the confusion, nor are we promoting any individual or company, or guaranteeing that the information or money management systems provided here are successful.
So, what's the purpose then, what exactly are we doing? Well, it's simple. We believe that God has made us all stewards over the things He has blessed us with (that includes money), and as such, it is our responsibility to use our talents to the best of our ability to be good stewards. No, we can't take any earthly thing with us when we die, but we certainly don't want to stand before our Father in Heaven and report that we've done nothing with our blessings (Matthew 25:14-30), or that we have been a bad steward over the things he has given to us.
That being said, Where God Has Me, has compiled a list of resources that provide financial education, as well as budgeting tips and systems. Again, our goal is not to add to the confusion. Instead, we simply desire to help make the topic of money, or financial responsibility, easier for you to discuss and digest...without all the dramatics (i.e. stomach churns, eye rolls, headaches, arguments, etc.). No, we can't promise you that once you read through the articles we've linked that you will walk away with a bigger bank account, but we certainly pray that you walk away with knowledge, comfort when it comes to money talk, a feeling that you can be (or continue to be) a good steward over the money God has blessed you and your family with, and a plan that will help you reach your financial goals (if you don't already have one).
Please understand that no financial/budget plan is a "one size fits all". What may work for one person, or family, may not work for you or yours. It is important to be realistic about your situation so that you can find what works best for you.
